Using Flower Essences to Heal Trauma
On my questionnaire, I ask if my patient has experienced trauma in their lives. Trauma comes in varied forms and affects people differently. There are unimaginable traumas like war, natural disasters and abuse; other traumas such as divorce, death of a loved one or illness.
Flower essences are very effective in treating the mental/emotional body and easing symptoms that manifest with trauma.
One of my patients recently lost her mother to cancer. The grief and sadness was very overwhelming. A flower essence including Star of Bethlehem (grief), Elm (overwhelm) and Olive (exhaustion) helped my patient process her emotions and get through that loss.
Another patient was having a difficult time sleeping with worry about her daughter going away to college. I prescribed a flower essence of Mimulus (fear of known things) and Walnut (adjusting to new beginnings/changes). The remedy proved very helpful in easing her worry and resolving her insomnia.
Many years ago I received this most profound piece of wisdom from a Native American elder:
“Eat or Be Eaten” – you must digest your emotions and life experiences fully or they will digest you.
Flower Essences can be a powerful medicine to help you digest those difficult life experiences. You can heal your trauma. You can heal your life.
